Beloved conductor Jaap van Zweden returns to The McKnight Center, this time for two unique concerts with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra (SPO). The SPO has been a leading cultural institution in Asia for the last twenty years. Under the direction of renowned conductors including Myung-Whun Chung, Osmo Vänskä, and current music director Jaap van Zweden, the SPO has expanded its artistic reach and international presence. The orchestra has been in prestigious venues across Europe, North America, and Asia, including the BBC Proms, Musikverein, and Concertgebouw.

Music Director Jaap van Zweden is a master builder who "hears a vision" for an orchestra and then works to achieve it. His recent past music directorships include the New York Philharmonic; Hong Kong Philharmonic; and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. His current positions include becoming Music Director in 2024 of the Seoul Philharmonic and, in the fall of 2026, adding Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France.

Born in South Korea, Bomsori Kim earned a  Bachelor’s degree from Seoul National University and a Master of Music degree and Artist Diploma from The Juilliard School. In addition to winning the 62nd ARD International Music Competition, Bomsori is a prizewinner of the Tchaikovsky International Competition, and more. She has collaborated with numerous leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Pianist Jaehong Park is praised for his mesmerizing virtuosity and astounding stage presence. Described as a “fearless” and “meticulous” artist, Jaehong is one of the most sought-after pianists of his generation with his triumph from 2021 Feruccio Busoni International Piano Competition, where he not only received the first prize but also four special prizes. He has performed with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Utah Symphony Orchestra,
and the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, to name a few.
